Halloween is fast approaching, and a host of monsters, ghouls, witches, and goblins will soon be out in force once again! It’s one of our favourite times of the year, with fun and chills to spare (not to mention tons of sticky candy – to be consumed in moderation, of course). To help get you in the mood, here’s our recipe for handmade face paint for children and the young at heart!

If you’ve decided that this year you want to make your own costumes and face paint, or prefer to use handmade make-up whose ingredients you can vouch for, this recipe is for you!

Before you start

Before you begin, slip on gloves and make sure your countertop is protected. This will make clean-up easier.

Steps to follow

  1. Prepare and sterilize your equipment and workspace.
  2. Weigh all raw materials.
  3. Melt wax and cocoa butter with oils.
  4. Add mica powder and magnesium stearate. Mix well. Alternate between the spatula and the cordless mini mixer to remove all lumps.handmade face paint for children coop coco
  5. Add vitamin E
  6. Gradually add the activated charcoal/titanium dioxide (depending on whether you are making black or white face paint), mixing well as you go along. Heat on hotplate if the mixture becomes too thick.handmade face paint for halloween coop coco
  7. Once the mixture is well blended and fluid, pour into metal jar.

How to use

Best applied with a brush (such as a foundation brush, for example).
Remove with makeup remover or vegetable oil. Then wash with a gentle soap appropriate to your skin type.
